Drink driver speeding 147km/h
A 28-year-old provisional-two driver was caught drink-driving and speeding 147km/h on the Hume Highway at Yellow Creek Road, Yass, at 9.30am Sunday morning.
Police said he returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.045. His licence was automatically suspended for three months.
He was fined $835, lost five demerit points and was ordered to appear before Yass Local Court next month.
Break-ins at local businesses
The Thunderbird Motel in Yass, and the Murrumbateman Inn in Murrumbateman, were broken into in the early hours of Sunday morning.
An alarm alerted police at the Thunderbird at 3.20am after an offender/s threw a brick through a glass door to gain entry.
They stole a cash draw containing cash.
Offenders broke into the Murrumbateman Inn at about 3.30am by smashing a window with a storage packing pallet. They stole alcohol and the footy tips box, which didn’t contain any cash at the time.
Police are investigating if the break-ins are related.
Urinator fined
A 23-year-old Armidale, NSW, man was fined $500 for offensive behaviour after police caught him urinating on the side of the road at 6.30pm on Saturday.
DUI and offensive conduct
A 32-year-old Yass man was charged with driving under the influence and offensive conduct during an incident on Comur Street, Yass, at 11.30pm on Thursday.
He was fined $500 and was ordered to appear before Yass Local Court next month.
Car vandalised
An offender has vandalised the car of a McDonalds Yass employee sometime after 5.15pm on Monday. The vehicle was damaged with a large scratch along its side panels. Anyone with information should contact Yass Police Station 6226 9399 or Crime Stoppers.
