Horses in truck fire

BREAKING:  A truck carrying 14 brood mare racehorses has caught alight on the Hume Highway near the Service Centre.

Emergency crews were working to extinguish it and a veterinary crew is attending the scene, at about 6.15pm tonight.

The condition of the horses is unknown at this stage.

The highway is blocked and traffic diversions will be put into place. Police expect small vehicles to be diverted into Yass town, b-double trucks may be forced to wait.
