Nail-biting loss to Marist

JUNIOR RUGBY: On Saturday, the U12 Yass-Rosary Rams met the Marist College Royals on Victoria Oval in Yass.

The two teams ended up being evenly matched and the spectators were treated to an exciting game of Rugby Union.

The first half saw the Yass-Rosary Rams’ Thomas Carey score two tries.

The Rams finished the half up by two thanks to a tough conversion kick by Charlie Crozier.

The second half was a nail-biter right to the end, with both teams providing tough defence and excellent ball movement up and down the field.

Thomas Carey scored another two tries with Charlie Crozier providing one conversion.

The Yass-Rosary Rams led the game until the final minute when the Marist Royals broke free and ran the field for a last-second try.

The final score was 24-27 to Marist.

The team voted a three way tie between Thomas Carey, Jordan Wilson and George Walker as the week’s Player’s player.

The Coaches Award for the week was also a tie between Thomas Carey and Jordan Wilson.
The Yass-Rosary Rams will be playing the Vikings Red at Rosary in Downer next Saturday at 10:30am.

Kim Gourlay moved to Australia 21 years ago and has lived in Yass for the last 5 years. She started photography as a young apprentice to her father as he travelled the state of Colorado taking landscape and nature photographs. As photographer, she attends many of the local events to help preserve the history of the Yass Valley. Kim has also volunteered as a member of various committees and associations, including the Mt Carmel College Ltd Board of Directors. She is also a member of YassArts organisation. She loves living in Yass with her family and is committed to seeing it remain a strong, thriving community it is today.
