Man seriously injured in bridge crash

BREAKING: A driver has been seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash on the Hume Highway at Wargeila Road Bridge, about five kilometres from Yass.

A SouthCare helicopter is currently on scene and the man, who has been trapped inside the vehicle, is being treated by paramedics. His condition is not known.

A resident who was on the scene told Scoop the debris from the wreckage has been scattered for about 150 metres.

It’s believed the vehicle crashed into a bridge pylon.

The Hume Highway is expected to be blocked in both directions for several hours as authorities investigate and clear the wreckage.

Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
