Three injured in Hume crash this morning

THREE people have been seriously injured after their car rolled on the Hume Highway near Gunning this morning.

A 36 year-old male passenger has been airlifted to Canberra Hospital with chest injuries and possible spinal and head injuries.

A 14 year-old girl who was a passenger in the back seat was airlifted with rib and abdominal injuries and the driver, a 27 year-old woman, was transported by road to Canberra Hospital suffering ankle and knee fractures.

All three are from Kingswood in NSW.

Police said they had been travelling north on the Hume Highway about two kilometres north of the Gunning exit when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times on the median strip.

All occupants were able to get themselves out of the wreckage before emergency services arrived at the scene at 7.45am.

One lane of the Hume Highway remains closed to traffic as detectives and Hume Local Area Command crime scene investigators examine the area.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage.
