Grass fire in Hanley Place

FIRE: Two Yass Fire and Rescue trucks were called to the scene of a small grass fire in Hanley Place, Yass, on Friday.

With hot gusty winds and a high fire danger alert on the day, deputy captain Scott Lang said it was fortunate they received the call early before it could spread out of control.

A neighbouring property owner alerted authorities at 2.30pm.

A small area of grassland was alight, but was contained and extinguished before it damaged any property.

The cause is unknown at this stage.
