Outdoor cinema and bubbleball for Youth Week
YOUTH WEEK: BubbleBall soccer, jumping castle and back-to-back outdoor movies is how Yass Valley Youth Council would like you to celebrate Youth Week.
Activities will be held on Saturday, April 16 from 2pm in Riverbank Park, Yass.
The back-to-back movies should prove to be a hit for all the ages with hilarious Australian film “Oddball” and Hollywood blockbuster “Pitch Perfect” set to keep everyone in the family entertained.
“This is our very first outdoor cinema event using the equipment the Youth Council purchased through their own fundraising and hard work,” said councillor Jasmin Jones, Council’s representative on the committee.
“I am very proud of the Youth Council’s achievements.
“Yass Valley Youth Council has planned an action packed, free event with something for everyone,” she said.
“I’m particularly keen to see the youth of Yass Valley get together and play BubbleBall soccer, it will be very funny to watch. So grab some friends and head down to give it a go.”
Oddball is rated “G” and is about an eccentric chicken farmer, who with the help of his granddaughter trains his mischievous dog, Oddball, to protect a penguin sanctuary from fox attacks. Oddball will commence at 5:45pm (sunset) and run until approximately 7:15pm.
Pitch Perfect is rated “M” and will commence around 7:30pm and finish at approximately 9:30pm. The movie centres around college student Beca who, against her will, finds herself in the Barden Bellas, a competitive collegiate a cappella singing group.
Don’t forget to bring a deck chair or picnic blanket and enjoy the popcorn and fundraising BBQ.
All funds raised from the event will be used to support future Youth Council initiatives in Yass Valley.
This event is drug and alcohol free.
