NSW police highway patrol had to advise motorists to drive safely and to the weather conditions after a dumping of snow at Breadalbane between Gunning and Goulburn on Wednesday, May 13 (pictured).

The heavy snow storm hit the Federal and Hume highways south of Goulburn, and several vehicles were involved in collisions.

Drink driving

A 50-year-old man from Greenwell Point was charged with low-range drink driving on Yass Valley Way.

Police stopped the man at 10.50am on May 9.

He recorded a blood-alochol level of 0.068 and will appear before Yass Local Court on June 2.

Wood-cutting equipment stolen

Equipment worth $1260 was stolen from the back of a ute parked behind the Australian Hotel.

Police said two blockbusters, a handmade axe and an anvil were stolen sometime between 5pm May 11 and 6.30am the following day.

Anyone with information should contact police.

$550 fine for breaching pub eviction

A 22-year-old man from Goulburn has been fined $550 for re-entering a bar after being excluded.

Police said the man was ejected from the hotel at 12.55am on May 10.

Ute vandalised

A ute parked in Meehan Street was vandalised on Saturday, May 9.

The red Holden ute’s personalised registration plate was tampered with and yoghurt was splashed on the front window.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Shopper’s groceries taken

A shopper has had $180 worth of groceries stolen while inside the liquor store in Woolworths, Yass.

Police said the shopper parked the trolley full of groceries near the door to the liquor store to continue shopping.

A man of caucasian appearance, aged about 50 years, was seen placing a carton of alcohol into the trolley and wheeling it out of the store.

Police are investigating.

Home vandalised

A resident of Merryville Drive in Murrumbateman returned from a weekend away on May 3 to find his home had been damaged.

Police said the home owner first noticed his air conditioning unit wouldn’t start on May 4.

Upon checking the unit, he saw two copper pipes that are used to carry gas for the system had been cut.  Two pipes that carried the electricity cables were left intact.

Neighbours did not see an suspicious behaviour.

The owner will be checking CCTV footage and notifying police of the result.

 Motorbike crash

A 54-year-old man from the ACT was transported to hospital with injuries after a motorbike accident.

The man was riding a motorcycle west on Murrumbateman Road when he lost control on a right hand bend, at 12.30pm on May 3.

Police said the rider left the roadway and ended up in the table drain.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Teen fined for possessing knife

A teenager has had a knife confiscated after police had cause to search his vehicle on May 2.

Police received information regarding a green Commodore travelling from Goulburn to Wagga Wagga and located the vehicle Yass Service centre at 4.20pm.

A 17-year-old man was advised it was an offence to possess a knife of this type without having a lawful excuse to do so.

He was fined.

Saturation patrols

Yass Police are conducting random saturation patrols of all Yass and Murrumbateman areas.

A large number of drivers have been seen committing offences and have been issued infringements.
