Driver seriously injured in Barton accident

A driver is seriously injured after a single vehicle accident 4km south of Murrumbateman between Jiparu and Valencia estates about 30 minutes ago.
The highway is currently closed to traffic, with diversions in place on Nanima Road, Murrumbateman Road and Euroka Avenue for light vehicles.
Heavy vehicles are at a standstill.
Police have confirmed the driver lost control of the vehicle in wet conditions and ran into a tree.
Murrumbateman Rural Fire Brigade volunteers attended and have praised the efforts of motorists who were first on the scene who provided assistance to the driver and helped with traffic control.
The area remains heavily congested and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
